Engaged Is a Seaon Too!
There’s a pretty well-known relationship stat that says couples who spend about 5–6 intentional hours together each week tend to report stronger connection and satisfaction. Not scrolling-on-the-couch time. Not logistics talk. Real, present, phone-down time!
Here’s the kicker. Engagement is one of the hardest seasons to protect that time.
You’re planning a wedding. Making decisions. Talking money. Coordinating families. Fielding opinions. Running on excitement and stress at the exact same time. It’s joyful, but it can also quietly turn your relationship into a shared project instead of a shared life.
We see it all the time. Amazing couples who love each other deeply but haven’t had an actual date in weeks because they’re “saving energy” or “will do it after this one last decision.” Spoiler alert…there is always one more decision.
It’s a great reminder that your relationship is not just the reason for the wedding. It’s the point. The marriage matters more than the planning. So, we’re talking about date ideas for engaged couples that are low-pressure, actually fun, and designed to help you reconnect as humans, not co-project managers.

The Most Important Wedding Prep: Dating Each Other
Wedding planning season is busy. Here is a few simple, meaningful date night ideas you can do for $20 or less.
Date 1: Coffee + Questions
Go to your fav local coffee shop and grab a coffee (maybe even a muffin if you’re feeling wild) and get deep! We recommend card decks like THIS ONE. Even if you think you know everything about each other, we promise with this date, you’ll unlock something new!
Date 2: Games + Snacks
Grab your favorite snacks and have a chill game night in (yes, seriously, turn off the TV and have intentional time together). We love two-player games like THIS ONE.
Date 3: Photo Scavenger Hunt + Scrapbooking
This one is more of a date adventure! What you’ll need: a disposable camera (or you can use your phone instead), a small photo album, and some stickers. Once you’ve gathered your materials, you can start snapping photos: where you first met, date night, cooking a meal together, your partner laughing etc! Then print em’ out and scrapbook them into your album so you’ll forever remember the moments leading up to “I Do.”
Date 4: Local Durango date
This lineup for a local Durango date night will have you feeling like you booked a getaway without ever leaving town. First step is to take a walk on the river trail (or a hike somewhere if you’re feeling up for it), followed by a soak at The Durango Hot Springs. Then get ready and head our for a dinner downtown. Some options we enjoy are: Perbacco, Eolus, Seasons, and 636 Main Ave. Lastly, tie up the night with dessert at Cream Bean Berry or Animas Chocolate Company.
Date 5: Pick Your Favorite Lovesongs
Let’s chat music! There are soooo many options out there and it can be hard to pick the perfect song. Our take? Make a date night out of it! We created this blog dedicated to this exact thing, that may help you narrow down your music options. We also found this playlist of wedding songs that are versatile, meaningful, and easy to build around. Listen to the playlist together while on a drive, or on a walk, and maybe you’ll come across your list of songs!
