These are a few of my favorite things:

Make It Personal

Cocktail hour is your first real we did it moment of the day, and it should feel like you. Signature drinks are an easy win. His, hers, or “our story in a glass” always hits. Bonus points for a fun name or a nod to how you met. You can also layer in personality through food. Think elevated comfort bites, local favorites, or something unexpected that gets people talking (in a good way).

Keep Guests Engaged

The best cocktail hours have movement. People mingling, grabbing a drink, trying something new. Interactive elements can help, but they don’t have to be over the top. A build-your-own snack station, a unique bar setup, or even just really well-passed apps can do the trick. Add in a little entertainment if it fits your vibe. Lawn games, live music, or a photo moment can go a long way in keeping the energy up while you’re off taking photos.

Set the Tone for the Night

This is where the day shifts from ceremony to celebration. The vibe matters. Think intentional layout and atmosphere. Cozy lounge seating, cocktail tables for mingling, soft lighting, and music that feels like you. It should feel relaxed, elevated, and easy to be in. Most importantly, it should flow. Guests should know where to go, what to do, and how to grab a drink without thinking twice. That’s where a good coordinator (hi, it’s us) makes all the difference.
