The Benchmark is located at Cascade Village about forty minutes north of downtown Durango and just north of Purgatory Ski Resort. One thing that makes this venue stand out immediately is the setting. It feels wooded and quiet without feeling isolated. Guests still have easy access to lodging, hiking, skiing, and all the mountain-town things people actually want to do during a wedding weekend here. Once a restaurant and thriving community hub, the building itself is own and run by the village HOA who wanted to make sure the beautiful space was used to its full potential. 

Lodging at THE BENCHMARK:

Another big advantage here is the nearby lodging. Guests can stay close to the venue instead of coordinating shuttles back into town late at night, which honestly makes the entire weekend feel smoother for everyone involved.

Ceremony Meadow: Mountain views and a wide open field surrounded by trees
Cocktail hour spaces: In the meadow or lobby lodge
Indoor dining room: Large open room with mountain views, includes a bar and dance floor
Triangle room: Side room for dinner buffet service

Loft room: Optional getting ready space for groomsmen or bridesmaids

What a Typical Wedding DAY Looks Like

A pretty typical wedding weekend here starts Friday with guests checking into Cascade Village or nearby lodging before heading into Durango, hanging around the resort area, or joining a welcome dinner.

Saturday typically includes:

1. Morning breakfast and getting ready in a condo

2. Scenic first look opportunities

3. Ceremony in the meadow

4. Cocktail hour in the lodge lobby

5. Dinner in the reception space

6. Dancing and dessert on the dancefloor

Celebrations wrap at 10 PM, and guests can head out to an afterparty location of their choosing.

Wedding Amenities and Planning Details

The Benchmark offers short-term rental style wedding experience.

Included Amenities

• Ceremony chairs for up to 120 guests

• Reception tables and chairs for up to 120 guests

• Sweetheart, dessert, and memorial tables

• Event spaces

Vendor Policy: Couples may bring their own vendors which allows full customization of the wedding experience. However, you are required use a licensed caterer, licensed bartender, purchase event liability insurance, and use coordination with The Perfect Day Co.

Rain Plan: Plan A is typically a timeline push. The other option is having it in the upstairs reception space.

Optional Add-Ons: Rehearsal/Welcome dinner in the space for an additional fee
